The Spring Cleaning Debate
Spring cleaning has always been a topic of great debate. Some people thrive in the chaos, treating it like a home make-over show episode. Others think it is a waste of time and a struggle with their long-suffering vacuum cleaner. I think of it as an opportunity to have a scavenger hunt.
As I look into the deep corners of my home, the realms I have neglected all winter, I know I will find amazing things. Under my bed, hidden amidst the army of dust bunnies, there is usually a lost sock and half a bag of last year’s Halloween candy. I will find sentimental stuff, old greeting cards, old pictures of myself wearing questionable clothing, and other items that will slow my cleaning down but offer a few laughs.
As I dive deeper, I might discover old yearbooks and wonder, “ Why on earth did I keep this?”In the garage, “the great hole of despair,” I will trip over broken lawnmowers, a bicycle with flat tires, and a bunch of other stuff, which makes me wonder if I am engaged in a game of Who can hold onto this the longest?
So, instead of dreading spring cleaning, consider it an opportunity to look back on your home’s last year ( or years, depending on when you last cleaned) and have fun remembering the stories each found item will bring to mind.
So, here’s to spring cleaning! May your adventures be humorous, your finds be entertaining, and your threshold of patience be immeasurable,
